The Orlando Margarita Society was organized in 1983 as a non-profit organization to help needy children within our community. The original twenty-five Directors desired to create a process for friends to celebrate a special season, and yet, allow all to contribute towards a better Christmas for the under-privileged children of Central Florida. The Orlando Margarita Society Ball format was developed as a means to achieve this goal.
From its humble start of having just a few hundred guests, a menu of potato chips and dip, the Orlando Margarita Ball has blossomed into the most successful event of its kind in the Southeast. During the past two decades, the Margarita Society and the thoughtful generosity of invited guests, has furnished over a hundred thousand gifts to the needy of children Central Florida.
Since 1983, other Margarita Societies have spun off, starting in Daytona Beach, Charlotte NC, Denver CO, Huntsville, AL, and Lakeland, Fl. Each Society continues using the same format today, fulfilling the needs of under-privileged and special needs children during the Christmas season.
The current thirty-four Directors represent a cross-section of the Central Florida's business community. Still, our goals remain the same as in they were in 1983…To organize and sponsor one of Florida's grandest gala events…The Orlando Margarita Ball!
The process we use is simple. Each invited guest is requested to bring an unwrapped gift for a boy or girl to the event. The Society then distributes the collected gifts to various children's organizations within our community.
Yes! After the glitter and gaiety of the Ball grows dim, children's faces glow brighter during the holiday season!
The Orlando Margarita Society thanks each and every participant who has helped our organization achieve its goals during the past two decades. Without your generous help and the holiday spirit you unselfishly provide, the Holiday Season would be very a different occasion for many unfortunate children.
Thank you,
The thirty-four Directors of the Orlando Margarita Society |
